What is the Yorkshire Coast Day Ranger ticket?
A ranger ticket gives you great value and unlimited travel within a set area for 1 day. The Yorkshire Coast Day Ranger includes unlimited travel on the Hull–Scarborough line via Bridlington, plus unlimited travel on Arriva bus routes 93 and X93 between Scarborough and Whitby. The exact area is shown on the map below.
Who is the ticket for?
Perfect for anyone wanting a scenic coastal day out. The train from Hull to Scarborough takes around 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes, giving you plenty of time to relax. You can start your trip at any station along the route.
Where do you buy the ticket, and what's the cost?
You can buy a Yorkshire Coast Day Ranger at any ticket office - just ask for a 'Yorkshire Coast Day Ranger' - or buy from a ticket vending machine.
These tickets aren’t currently available online or in the app, but we’re working on making that possible soon.
Prices:
- Adult – £27.90
- Child – £13.95 (children are under the age of 15)
- Family – £55.90 (2 adults and 2 children)
- Discounted fare – £18.55 with the following Railcards:
- 16–25 Railcard

- Two Together Railcard
- Disabled Persons Railcard
- Senior Railcard
- HM Forces Railcard
Journey planning and inspiration
Enjoy gorgeous countryside and coastal views as the train carries you through Beverley, Bridlington, and Filey. When you reach Scarborough, head to bus stop S and catch the Arriva X93.
You can hop off at Robin Hood’s Bay for a peaceful beach stop, or stay on to Whitby (about 1 hour). From Whitby Bus Station, it’s a 15-minute walk to the beach or to Whitby Abbey (via the famous 199 steps)
When you're ready to head back, simply catch the next X93.

Monday to Saturday:
- First bus: 7.46am
- Last bus: 23.00pm
Sunday:
- First bus: 8.50am
- Last bus: 20.00pm
