No. The Sixth Form, College and University Annual Education Season Ticket is available to purchase online only. 

When traveling, you must carry both your valid Railway Photocard, and your university student ID. Ticket inspectors may ask to see both to confirm eligibility. 

If you purchased your season ticket online and misplace it, a duplicate ticket can be administered for a £10 admin fee plus first-class signed-for postage costs. Contact [email protected] to arrange a replacement. 

If you cease to be enrolled in full-time education, Northern reserves the right to withdraw eligibility. Season tickets are subject to standard National Rail refund rules and conditions.

• The Sixth Form, College and University – Annual Education Season is available exclusively to students over 16 years of age who are enrolled at a recognised university or higher education institution, and doing a full-time course.
  • Recognised institutions include UK sixth forms, colleges, universities and higher education providers recognised by the relevant educational authorities.
• Eligible students receive 50% off the adult annual season ticket price for the equivalent ticket.
• Tickets are valid for 365 consecutive days from the selected start date.
• Annual tickets only, no term time tickets available.
  • Annual tickets are valid at any time on permitted services between the stations shown on the ticket, subject to any route restrictions.
• Tickets can be purchased at any time throughout the year and are not restricted to academic term dates.
• To purchase a University Student Annual Season Ticket, students must present a valid university student ID card or other approved proof of current student status.
• Student identification may be requested at the time of purchase and during ticket inspections throughout the validity period.
  • Northern may request evidence of continuing eligibility throughout the ticket validity period.
• Failure to provide valid student identification when requested may result in the ticket being deemed invalid and appropriate action being taken in accordance with the Conditions of Travel.
• All tickets are subject to availability.
• If a student's course ends before the expiry of the ticket, the ticket remains valid only in accordance with the applicable season ticket conditions and continued eligibility requirements.
• The ticket is non-transferable and may only be used by the named ticket holder.
• All travel is subject to the National Rail Conditions of Travel and any applicable operator-specific terms and conditions.

• Education Season Tickets are subject to the National Rail Conditions of Travel and season ticket refund rules. Any applicable refund may be subject to an administration fee.
• If a student ceases to be enrolled in full-time education during the validity period, Northern reserves the right to withdraw eligibility for discounted travel and require the ticket to be surrendered.
• Any misuse, alteration, lending, sharing or fraudulent use of an Education Season Ticket may result in withdrawal of the ticket without compensation and may lead to further action under the Railway Byelaws or Conditions of Travel.
• Failure to present a valid photocard when requested may result in the ticket being treated as invalid.
• Education Season Tickets do not guarantee access to specific services. Travel remains subject to service alterations, delays and cancellations.
• Personal information provided as part of the application process will be handled in accordance with Northern's Privacy Policy.

Terms of use:

• The named student must be in possession of a valid railway photocard and valid student identification when travelling - this will be required as proof of identity on request by authorised railway staff.
• The care of the ticket is the responsibility of the student. Your school or Northern cannot take any responsibility for any losses arising from theft, loss or damage.

Renewals and Lost Tickets:

• For tickets purchased online a duplicate season ticket can be administered at a cost of £10 plus the relevant cost for first class signed for postage and packaging. Please contact [email protected].
• For tickets issued at stations duplicates are only available from the station.
