  • Alterations to services at South Bank

    Due to urgent repairs to a bridge at South Bank:
    How does it affect your service:
    Train services running through this station will be running non stop between Middlesbrough and Redcar Central. South Bank will not be served. Disruption is expected until 16:00 28/06.
    Our advice to our customers:
    Services between Middlesbrough and Saltburn are currently being disrupted due to an unsafe footbridge at South Bank.
    Effect on service:
    Middlesbrough to Saltburn services will not call at South Bank, in this direction only.
    Road Transport details.
    To assist customers to complete their journey, a shuttle bus has been provided between Middlesbrough, South Bank & Redcar Central. This will be operated by E-Travel.
    Customers at South Bank travelling towards Saltburn should board the shuttle service and then connect at Redcar Central for Northern services towards Saltburn.
    Journey times will be extended by 10 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.

    Due to forecasted severe weather fewer trains are able to run on some lines. Disruption is expected until the end of the day on 09/01/26.

    Train services between Manchester Piccadilly and Buxton will be cancelled.

    Customer advice

    Train services between Hazel Grove and Buxton will be cancelled.

    Do not travel on this route.
    
    Effect on service:
    You cannot travel. There are still trains running on other routes but these may be subject to short notice cancellation and overcrowding due to severe weather across the network.
    
    Road replacement transport will not be provided.

    Additional Info

    Due to forecasted severe weather expected from storm Goretti. Between 16:00 on 8th of January until the end of day 9th of January 2026, we strongly advise customers to check before you travel on ALL ROUTES across the Northern Network.
    
    Alternative transport will NOT be provided on Thursday 8th and Friday 9th of January 2026.
    
    Northern customers who re-plan their journey or experience disruption on these dates will be able to use their ticket to travel with another operator.
    
    Customers with connecting tickets on Northern services dated or valid on Thursday 8th or Friday 9th January, can use their ticket on any day up to and including Monday 12th January 2026 (and until 04:29 Tuesday 13 January 2026)

    Due to urgent repairs to the railway between Corkickle and Whitehaven the line is closed.

    Impact

    Train services running through these stations will be terminated at Corkickle and restarted from Whitehaven. Disruption is expected until the end of the day on 31/03/26.

    Customer advice

    Services between Corkickle and Whitehaven are being disrupted due to urgent repairs the railway.
    Network Rail continue to complete the works on Bransty Tunnel, Whitehaven. The line is closed between Corkickle and Whitehaven (in both directions). Disruption is expected until Spring 2026.
    
    Effect on service:
    Train services are unable to run between Corkickle and Whitehaven (in both directions).

    Planned engineering work will take place between Micklefield and York from 00:01, Saturday 03 January 2026 to 23:59, Friday 09 January 2026.
    Some services will be revised.
    SATURDAY
    York Hull/Bridlington: Trains will be diverted via an alternative route between York and Selby and will not call at Ulleskelf, Church Fenton and Serburn-in-Elmet.
    York Sheffield:Trains will not run.
    Buses will be provided between York and Selby and between York and Moorthorpe. Train services are available between Moorthorpe and Sheffield.
    ALL WEEK
    Blackpool North York: Trains will terminate at Leeds.
    York Blackpool North: Trains will start from Leeds.
    Leeds York: Trains will terminate at Micklefield.
    York Leeds: Trains will start from Micklefield.
    Buses will be provided between Micklefield and York. On Saturday, express buses between Leeds and York will be provided by TPE. Sunday and Monday to Friday, TPE train services will operate between Leeds and York via Castleford.
    Services between Halifax/Leeds and Selby/Hull will run as normally advertised.
