The discount for the Under 16 scheme is 50% off a child fare for a full school year season ticket and 40% off for a term time ticket purchased online.

If a passenger gets on a train without a ticket or promise to pay notice at a station where ticket buying facilities are available, they may be liable to pay a Penalty Fare. The penalty is the greater of £20 or twice the full single from the station where they got on the train to the next station at which the train stops. If the passenger wants to travel beyond the next station, they must also pay the relevant fare from that station to their destination. If you refuse to pay the Penalty Fare, then you may be prosecuted under criminal law. Full details about Penalty Fares can be found here.

The photo ID for your child will work in conjunction with the ticket that we provide. This will allow us to check that the ticket is valid and being used correctly. You must have a rail network photo ID to be able to travel.  If you already have one then input the number in the online form - this will have 3 letters and 4 numbers (this is not the smart card number and cannot be used instead)  If you don't have a photo ID please upload a photo on the form and the team will send one out with your ticket.

 

Your child will need to carry their Photo ID card even if they have a Smart card.

Tickets will be issued up to 5 working days from receipt of the order.  If you haven't received your ticket before the start date requested, please contact [email protected]

Yes - please download the form and take to the station. Please note that the discount will be lower than purchasing the ticket online.

If a pupil turns 16 years old within the ticket's validity period, the discounted ticket will continue to be valid for a further four months after their 16th birthday.  

After this time it would be advisable to change to a 16-17 Saver card

The promoter of this prize draw is Northern Trains Limited (trading as Northern) whose correspondence address is Commercial Sales, Marketing Department, 6th Floor, Northern House, 9 Rougier Street, York, YO1 6HZ (the “Promoter”).

 

The Draw is open to all UK residents (excluding Northern Ireland) who have purchased an Educational Season ticket from Northern, and referred a parent who has also purchased a ticket, informing us that this has taken place by emailing [email protected]  with your full name. Entrants must be aged 18 years or over. As well as being entered into the draw all those meeting the above criteria will receive One free weekend family pass for travel on Northern services. 

 

Internet access is required to enter into the Draw.

 

For the purpose of these terms and conditions “Term” shall mean from 12:01 on Monday 01 August 2022 to 23:59 on Friday 30 September 2022 inclusive.

 

The Prize Draw will take place on or around 30th September 2022

 

For the purpose of these terms and conditions, the main prize consists of:

Entry into a prize draw to win back the cost of an annual child season ticket. A season ticket is for a specified origin and destination for a 12 month period.

 

1x winner up will be selected as follows: by random draw performed by a computer process from all the valid entries.

 

Only one entry per individual is allowed.

 

The winner will be notified by email (using details provided at entry) within 7 days of the relevant draw date of the Draw. If a winner does not respond to the Promoter within 10 days of being notified by the Promoter, they will be contacted once more. If a winner has still not responded within an additional 10 days of being notified, then the winner's prize will be forfeited and the Promoter will be entitled to select another winner in accordance with the process described above.

 

The prizes for the winner is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternative is offered.

 

The Promoter reserves the right to replace the prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond the Promoter's control makes it necessary to do so.

 

The decision of the Promoter regarding any aspect of the prize draw is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about it.

 

The Promoter must either publish or make available information that indicates that a valid award took place. To comply with this obligation the Promoter will send the surname and county of major prize winners and, if applicable copies of their winning entries, to anyone who emails [email protected] within one month after the relevant draw date stated. If you object to any or all of your surname, county and winning entry being published or made available, or change your mind in respect of any consent provided on entry in relation to this, please contact the Promoter at the address set out in condition 1. In such circumstances, the Promoter must still provide the information and winning entry to the Advertising Standards Authority on request.

 

Participants are deemed to have accepted and agreed to be bound by these terms and conditions upon entry.

 

The Promoter reserves the right to refuse entry, or refuse to award the prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions.

 

The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, cancel, suspend, or amend the promotion where it becomes necessary to do so. Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, its agents or distributors will not in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the winner or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of taking up the prize except where it is caused by the negligence of the Promoter, its agents or distributors or that of their employees. Your statutory rights are not affected.

 

Personal data supplied during the course of this prize draw will be processed by the Promoter for the purpose of administering this prize draw. Entry into this prize draw will be deemed as your consent to this processing. If you do not wish your personal data to be processed in this way, please do not enter the prize draw.

 

Personal data supplied by you during the course of this prize draw will only be passed on to third parties insofar as required for the fulfilment/delivery/arrangement of the prize. If you do not wish your personal data to be processed in this way, please do not enter this prize draw.

The prize draw will be governed by English law and entrants to the prize draw submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
