Scarborough is one of Britain’s favourite and busiest seaside resorts, and home to some of Yorkshire’s most stunning beaches.
Courtesy of the charming cliff lift, South Beach is just minutes from Scarborough town centre’s shops and amenities. This large sandy beach’s waters are sheltered from the North by the Castle Headland, making it a perfect sun trap, while it’s accessibility to shops, amusement arcades and dineries add to its attraction. At low tide the huge expanse of beach lends itself to sports, sandcastles, and fascinating rock pools - and who can resist a Donkey ride?
South Beach is also famous for the historic Spa which lies at the south end of the beach – here’s where you can catch live entertainment during the summer - including music played by the Spa’s very own Orchestra. Heading north along the beach you’ll find yourself spoilt for choice when it comes to cafes and restaurants. And the many seaside stalls are just the place to stock up on traditional seaside rock or treat yourself to a plate of traditional cockles and winkles!
