Scarborough Train Station facilities

Scarborough train station information

Formerly Scarborough Central, the station now serving the Yorkshire town of Scarborough, was opened in 1845, and when over fifteen thousand people watched the first trains, named Lion and Hudson, haul their loads into Scarborough, the town immediately saw a population boost. Visitors would arrive from around the country by train to enjoy the sea air and experience the beneficial qualities of the spa water. As a result, in 1883, more platforms were added, along with a new ticket office, and improved waiting rooms, increasing the station’s capacity.

Today, Scarborough Station has a footfall of almost one million people, with many still arriving to take a break in the wonderfully rejuvenating seaside resort.

If you’re heading for the popular resort of Scarborough for a weekend break or a day out, Northern’s money-saving deals will help. Offers include Off-Peak tickets and Advance options if you like planning ahead.
