Carlisle Train Station facilities

Carlisle Station started its operations in 1847, before the construction was finished, and was designed by architect Sir William Tite, who also designed The Bank of England.

The station is in the Tudor Gothic style and is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful stations in the world. Allegedly haunted by the ghost of a veiled woman and headless man on Platform 8, the regular ghost tours can be joined by anyone fancying a thrill. The undercroft, or cellar is particularly frightening and many staff won’t even venture down this far!

Situated in the heart of the city, Carlisle Station is a stone’s throw from the museums, galleries and shops that make this city so popular with tourists.
