Lasting three weeks during October, Newcastle’s Oktoberfest is the biggest party the North has ever seen, with thousands attending and plenty of beer to be drunk, currywurst to be eaten, and good times to be had. Newcastle promises a true Bavarian bonanza, from beer hall to live Oompah band playing all the hits.

Kirkstall Abbey is one of the best-preserved Cistercian monasteries in the UK. Hosting numerous events throughout the year, from arts and crafts to markets, at the end of each month from March to October.

The Abbey is of historical importance, and visitors can learn more about it by walking through its storied halls, visiting the Abbey House Museum across the road, and taking a look at the Visitor Centre.
