As the nights draw in and the leaves start to change, Halloween is just around the corner! The North’s cities are known for their rich history, vibrant culture and spooky settings for some of the best Halloween events in the UK. Whether you’re in Manchester or Sheffield, Leeds or Liverpool, we’ve pulled together some of the eeriest events to enjoy this year. Travelling with little ghouls? Kicking off the spooky season in style, Halloween in the City is an annual celebration that takes over Manchester's city centre with petrifying parades, ghost tours and haunted happenings. Whether it’s spooky ice skating, the Halloween-themed market or a monster music festival, there’s a variety of family-friendly events to enjoy in the city.

Ordsall Hall's Halloween Spectacular

Where: Ordsall Hall, Salford

Ordsall Hall, a stunning Tudor mansion, is known for its historical significance and spectral stories. During Halloween, the hall becomes the perfect stage for spooktacular events. Check out their half-term activities, from crafting to apple picking, or brave a ghastly ghost night for the ultimate thrill.

Spookfest sees the Trafford Centre transform into a hub of spooky delights that promises a ghoulishly good time for visitors of all ages. This year, marvel at Gandeys Halloween Spooktacular with circus performers and stunts, enjoy the fun of the fair with spine-chilling rides, treat your little gremlins to free face painting and much more.

Liverpool, a city steeped in history, is known for its supernatural tales. Shiverpool offers family-friendly ghost tours that take you through the city's dark and mysterious past, exploring haunted sites and hearing stories of its ghostly inhabitants. Try Liverpool’s most famous ghost walk on their Hope Street Shivers tour or hop on the Ghost Bus for a ghoulish guided tour.

Newsham Scream Park

Otterspool Adventure is an award-winning family attraction that puts on a show for the spooky season! This year, the most infamous bad guys of all time star in “Villainous”, packed with family fun and excitement. Calling all horror movie fans! Tyneside Cinema is hosting the ultimate scary movie night, screening four films back-to-back from dusk ‘til dawn. Choose from four different themes and settle in for a night of jump scares, thrills and fun. There’s also a Halloween film quiz to get in the spooky spirit with a prize for best dressed!

Lotherton Hall, a beautiful Edwardian estate, hosts Halloween-themed events for young and old alike. Dress up and explore the Spooky Skeletons Trail for the perfect half-term activity, before making your way to the haunted house! For older children, the Skelescare awaits – a journey through the forgotten graveyard and into the dark forest.

There’s so much to do this Halloween at Stockeld Park, you might not know where to begin.
