Affected routes

Please continue to check before you travel.

If you have a ticket dated for Sunday 25 October, you can use it on any Northern service on Monday 26 or Tuesday 27 October at no extra cost. You do not need to buy a new ticket.

There may be further changes to some trains and routes. We will give updates here and on our service updates page. 

Tuesday 27 October

Some stations on the following routes will have fewer trains than normal:

• Leeds to York via Harrogate - some trains will not call at Weeton, and all trains will not call at Headingley, in both directions. A shuttle bus service will be in place between Horsforth and Headingley every 40 minutes.
• Leeds to Chester - trains will not call at Bramley or New Pudsey in both directions; these stations will be served by our Hull to Bradford service.
• York to Blackpool North - trains will not call at New Pudsey, in both directions; these stations will be served by our Hull to Bradford service.
• Hull to Halifax - all trains will start and finish at Bradford Interchange; Halifax will still be served on other routes.
• Blackburn to Headbolt Lane - trains will not call at Littleborough, Smithy Bridge and Walsden in both directions; you can use the Wigan Wallgate to Leeds service, which will still call at these stations.

The following routes will have fewer trains than normal:

• Blackburn to Rochdale via Bolton and Manchester Victoria
• Manchester Victoria to Leeds
• Manchester Piccadilly to Alderley Edge
• Manchester Piccadilly to Hazel Grove
• Newcastle to Ashington
• Newcastle to Carlisle
• Newcastle to Middlesbrough

Customer advice 

• Journey planners may take time to reflect short notice changes. Please continue checking before you travel, including immediately before leaving for the station.
• Allow extra time for your journey
• Travel earlier, where possible, to avoid the busiest services
• Take extra care around stations and platforms, and keep luggage and personal belongings secure. 
• If you feel unwell, please do not board the train and speak to a member of station staff, the conductor when the next train stops, or use a help point
• If you start to feel ill on board, avoid using the emergency alarm between stations – it’s better to wait until the train is at a platform where help can reach you more quickly and safely.
