Rail commuters surprised by ‘Valen-TRAINS Day’ messages at stations
Messages appeared on ticket vending machines (TVM) and customer information screens (CIS) at their local stations, including: Altrincham, Goole, Greenbank, Leeds, Manchester Victoria, Oxenholme Lake District, Preston, Scarborough, Seamer and Sunderland.
It follows a social media appeal from Northern for people to write heartfelt messages to their loved ones.
Messages included:
To Emily. Rose's are Red, Violets are Blue. Get on this train, so I can see you! From Jon. #ValenTRAINSday
To Markus. Love you most, and you can’t say I don’t because now it’s on a train screen! From Deacon #ValenTRAINSday
To Georgie. Trains are Blue and White but you make my heart nice and red. From Jack. #ValenTRAINSday

To Bethany. Thankyou for literally everything you do for me. I love you sweetheart so so much honestly I do. From Charlie. #ValenTRAINSday

Couples whose ‘Valen-TRAINS Day’ messages featured on one of the screens are also being sent a free Duo ticket for them to travel as a couple to anywhere on the Northern network.
Northern is the second largest train operator in the UK, with nearly 2,500 services a day to more than 500 stations across the North of England.
