If you’re travelling in the North West on a Sunday, please check your journey before you set off. As Sundays fall outside of conductors’ regular working week, a revised timetable is now in place across several routes.
The summary below outlines the current planned Sunday timetable changes. These do not include real-time alterations, so please also use the National Rail website, Northern service updates and the App for up-to-date information before you travel.
Current Sunday Timetable Changes
Cancelled services:
- 09:52 and 14:47 Barrow-in-Furness → Manchester Airport
- 10:33 and 12:30 Manchester Airport → Barrow-in-Furness
Cancelled services:
- 09:12 Preston → Manchester Airport
- 17:30 Manchester Airport → Windermere
Bus replacements: Evening services to Windermere

- No change between Preston ↔ Colne
- Reduced to a 2-hourly service between Preston ↔ Blackpool South

Hourly service now running every 2 hours between Liverpool and Manchester Airport (with longer 6-car trains for added capacity)

- 23:10 Manchester Airport → Liverpool

- Hourly service now running every 2 hours between Southport ↔ Manchester Victoria

Train service withdrawn and replaced by buses
