Where to get your Newcastle Metro train tickets

You can easily purchase your Metro add-on ticket from any Northern train station when you buy your train ticket to Newcastle. Just ask for a ticket that includes Metro travel, and choose the area you need: Zone A, all Metro zones (A, B & C), or Newcastle Airport.

If you have a Pop Smartcard, you can conveniently add the add-on ticket to your card!

How to find the Newcastle Metro

Newcastle train station

The Metro station is right underneath the train station. Head towards the exit of the train station, via the main barriers, and you'll find the Metro on the right between Burger King and the Centurion Bar. There are elevators and a lift to the Metro here.

Once in the Newcastle Central Metro station, you’ll find a variety of different Metro services that will take you to Newcastle and the surrounding areas.

Metro services run regularly, but vary depending on the route. Here's an example of Metro running times:

  • Monday to Friday: 5.50am to 23.30pm
  • Saturday: 6.20am to 23.30pm
  • Sunday: 6.40am to 23.30pm
