Blackburn train station information

Blackburn train station is a key stop on Northern’s network. With its fantastic location in the heart of Lancashire, it makes it easy for customers to explore the region or connect to wider routes. Whether you're heading to the bustling city of Manchester or exploring the scenic beauty of the Lake District, Blackburn offers a convenient link to it all.

Blackburn station first opened its doors back in the summer of 1846, and over the years, it’s had its fair share of makeovers. The most recent upgrade was in 2000, with a £35 million revamp. While the iconic Grade II Listed entrance hall was kept, the real standout was a stunning stainless steel screen on platform 4, created by local artist Stephen Charnock. Inspired by Blackburn’s industrial history and legendary figures like David Lloyd George and Barbara Castle, it’s a striking piece of art that adds a touch of the past to this modern station.
