Serving nearly 1.5 million passengers annually, Barnsley Station has been incorporated into the Interchange, which includes the bus and coach station. It opened in 1850 and allowed an influx of workers to move to Barnsley and take employment in the expanding linen industry. When the coalmines took over as the main employer in the early 1900s, the workers transferred to mining.
Situated in the centre of this northern town, the station opens onto all the attractions Barnsley has to offer.
By train, it takes around an hour and thirty minutes to get from Barnsley Station to Doncaster Airport.
Walking along Eldon Street, it takes approximately ten minutes to reach Barnsley town centre.
Barnsley Station has spaces for 76 cars.
There are secure spaces available for 24 bikes at Barnsley Station.
