Major power issue
Following a failure of the electricity supply at Manchester Piccadilly yesterday (Thursday), fewer trains are able to run on some lines.
Engineers have been working hard to restore the issue and train services are returning to normal.
However, we do advise customers to check before they travel as train services in the Greater Manchester and North West of England areas may still be cancelled, delayed or revised.
All tickets dated Thursday 6th August 2026 will be valid for onward travel on any reasonable route until the end of the day today (Friday 7th August)
You can travel on the following operators at no extra cost until the end of the day -
- Transport for Greater Manchester bus services on any reasonable route
- Metrolink services on any reasonable route
