1. Brackenfield Heritage Trail, Derbyshire

The Brackenfield Heritage Trail is a must-do for any nature lover. But what really makes the Brackenfield Heritage Trail special is its rich history. The trail takes you past several monuments and historic sites like Brackenfield Church and Berridge Lane Nature Reserve, as well as great vantage points for selfies such as Highoredish viewpoint. There is also a shorter route perfect for a sunny afternoon picnic and stroll. 2. National Trust Longshaw Estate, Sheffield

Longshaw Estate is a hidden gem in the Peak District National Park. With over 1600 acres of moorland, woods, meadows and parkland, it is certainly one of the best Peak District walks. It's also a wonderful place to explore and discover the spectacular views of the Derwent Valley. The estate also has a rich history, and there are many interesting sites for you to discover on one of the guided tours, trails, or events. When you’ve walked your legs off you can stop and refuel at the tea rooms which offer plenty of tasty homemade tasty treats, made using local produce from the estate and the wider Peak District area. The Moorland Discovery Centre is also located on the estate and is a great place to learn about the area's rich history and natural environment. The centre offers a range of activities for all ages, making it the perfect place to enjoy the Peak District National Park whether you’re flying solo or bringing the little ones.

 

3. The Limestone Way, Derbyshire

Third on our list of the best walks in the Peak District is The Limestone Way, which is potentially one of the best ways to experience hiking in the South Peak District. The 46-mile route winds its way through some of the most stunning scenery in the region, including the Derbyshire Dales and the White Peak. It is also a great way to get some fresh air and exercise, as well as to explore some of the small villages and towns that dot the landscape. The route passes expansive dales and rolling hills, and also has plenty of rest stops to refuel along the way, or to spend the night if you’re attempting the full trail. So, whether you’re looking for a challenging Peak District hike or a leisurely stroll, the Limestone Way has something for everyone.

4. Cave Dale Walk and Mam Tor Hike, Derbyshire

If you're looking for a particularly rewarding Peak District hike, then you should definitely consider taking a walk around Cave Dale and Mam Tor. Both locations offer breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside, and you'll get a real sense of achievement when you reach the top of the peaks. The walk around Mam Tor is particularly impressive, as you'll be rewarded with sweeping views of Derbyshire as far as the eye can see. One specific route is a unique 5.5 mile circular walk which is certainly off the beaten path, and offers the chance to discover the valley of Cave Dale and Mam Tor in one day. This route is perfect for a long afternoon exploring the countryside, just don’t forget to pack a picnic so you can truly cherish the epic scenery.

5. Kinder Scout Walk, Derbyshire

The Kinder Scout Walk is one of the most popular walks in the Peak District. At 17 miles, it's a challenging walk, but the views from the top are more than worth the effort. The full-day circular route takes you up to Kinder Downfall, England's highest waterfall, and across to Kinder Plateau, where you'll get panoramic views of the Derbyshire countryside. There are a few different routes you can take up to Kinder Scout, but the most scenic is probably via Edale Brook. Whichever route you choose, make sure you allow yourself plenty of time to enjoy the views from the top, as it makes the perfect picnic and selfie spot - making it another of the best walks in the Peak District!
