Northern Partnerships

We are passionate about making a positive difference to the communities we serve but making that happen takes hard work and a big commitment to building strong, effective partnerships.

The commitment of Northern Rail people has been matched by hundreds of organisations and individuals across our network and together we have achieved many successes, from major schemes such as hiring extra trains to smaller scale improvements to facilities at individual stations or joint promotions of services on smaller lines.

We work closely with the Department for Transport, Rail North, local authorities, rail and transport user groups and the voluntary sector.

Inside the rail industry, we work with Network Rail, the owner and operator of Britain's railway tracks and stations, and other train operators to deliver a safe, reliable railway.

The DfT work with agencies and partners to support the transport network that helps the UK’s businesses and gets people and goods travelling around the country. We plan and invest in transport infrastructure to keep the UK on the move.

Rail North's vision and activities will support the growth of the North of England’s economy over the next twenty years by improving connectivity for passengers and freight across the North, while at the same time providing a better customer experience and delivering a more efficient railway.
Network Rail runs, maintains and develops Britain’s rail tracks, signalling, bridges, tunnels, level crossings, viaducts and 17 key stations including Leeds, Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street.
The National Rail Enquiries site provides national service information, information on ticket types and routes across the UK. National Rail Enquiries also provides live departure information.

Transport Focus is the independent national rail consumer watchdog. Their mission is to get the best deal for Britain's rail customers.
British Transport Police is the railways national police force providing a policing service to rail operators, their staff and customers throughout England, Wales and Scotland. The majority of their activity, like that of any other police force, is law and order policing, maintaining the peace and protecting staff and public. They specialise in preventing route crime - which is vandalism, obstructing trains, throwing missiles and anything which endangers safety.
