Today, Rochdale Station is multi-modal and incorporates several train lines, including the Metrolink, but when it opened in 1839 it had no platform and only a tiny booking office. With over 1.5 million passengers every year using its 4 platforms, Rochdale Station has undergone several expansions, the last one taking place in 2015 when the fourth platform was added.
Rochdale, itself, has had some major restructuring, too, although the impressive 19th-century architectural frontages have been preserved, maintaining the grand atmosphere that the home of the Co-operative Movement has always presented. The cultural heritage juxtaposed with contemporary attractions keeps tourists coming back year after year.
It takes approximately one hour to travel from Rochdale Station to Manchester Airport by train.
The walk to Rochdale town centre takes a couple of minutes going via Station Road.
There is car parking available in nearby Hare Street.
Rochdale Station has secure spaces available for 16 bikes.
