In the heart of the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park is the pretty village of Ribblehead, served by this victorian station. Nearby is the impressive Viaduct which draws visitors from all over the globe. With 24 spans, it carries the Settle–Carlisle railway across the valley lying over 100 feet (32 m) below.

Multi-tasking as a venue for religious services held by the local vicar in the 1900s, the station also had an important role as a meteorological base, passing the Air Ministry coded reports. In the ’80s the station received a welcome overhaul, after being closed for the previous ten years, due to disrepair. Today the station is leased by the Settle and Carlisle Railway Trust, and the site features a quaint shop, visitor centre and even holiday cottages, making Ribblehead the perfect base for exploring the stunningly atmospheric moors.

The popular town of Ribblehead makes the ideal base for exploring the beautiful Yorkshire Dales National Park. Northern’s commitment to a healthier, greener lifestyle means that many of our trains include spaces for bikes, allowing you to explore the region on your bike after leaving the station.
