Opened in 1848, Nottingham train station once stood outside the city. But as more people moved to the area and the city grew, the station soon became a part of the Nottingham we know and love today. A Grade II listed building, it overlooks the canal and is just a short walk away from the famous Nottingham Castle, thanks to its central location. 

Also known as Nottingham City or Nottingham Midland, it is the main train station in the city and offers a range of facilities, from shops to cafés. It is also connected to the city's tram system, the Nottingham Express Transit, making the station a great hub to explore.

Attractions near Nottingham train station

A must-visit attraction, Nottingham Castle is only a 13-minute walk away via Maid Marian Way. The Castle is home to a range of museums and galleries showcasing an impressive collection of artefacts and exhibitions, as well as hosting a variety of events throughout the year.

Also within easy walking distance of Nottingham station is the Lace Market, a historic quarter-mile area of the city that was once the hub of the British Empire's lace industry. Now a protected heritage site, its many warehouses have been converted into various shops, apartments, bars, restaurants and more.

Nottingham also features the UK's largest network of caves, which you can visit at The City of Caves, just a 6-minute walk from the train station.
