Both off-peak and super off-peak are designed for journeys taken outside the busy commuter times when trains are quieter. Allowing you to relax and enjoy a more peaceful journey, while saving money, super off-peak return tickets are also available. Download our app for a quick, smooth way to purchase your tickets. 

What times are super off-peak trains?

Super off-peak trains run between 10:00 to 15:30, and then from 19:15 onwards during weekdays. You can also travel super off-peak during weekends and bank holidays. This avoids the periods when commuters are travelling to work, meaning there’ll be more empty seats to choose from and carriages will be quieter. 

What type of super off-peak tickets can I purchase?

There are two main categories of super off-peak tickets available: 

Super off-peak day return or single

  • Restrictions on travel in the mornings and evenings apply 
  • Outward and return journeys must be made on the date shown on your ticket 

Super off-peak return or single

  • Restrictions on travel in the mornings and evenings apply
  • Outward journeys must be made on the date shown on your ticket but you can make the return journey on any day within one calendar month of the outward journey

Are there any further discounts available on super off-peak tickets?

If you hold a railcard - Two Together,16-25, Family and Friends, Senior or Disabled, you’ll receive a further ⅓ off your super off-peak ticket price. 

How do I buy super off-peak train tickets?

You can purchase your super off-peak train tickets up to and including the day you wish to travel:

  • Through our easily downloadable app
  • Online with the tickets either sent to you or collected from the station
  • At a ticket vending machine
  • At a ticket office
  • On the train, if there are no vending machines or ticket offices at your station
