Buses replace trains between Rochdale, Todmorden, Burnley/Hebden Bridge between 23 and 31 October 2021

Network Rail is upgrading tracks through the 180-year-old Summit tunnel - between Littleborough and Walsden - and requires the line between Rochdale and Todmorden to be closed for nine days.

During this time, our services will be revised as shown below – Saturdays and Sundays are different to Monday to Friday, so please check carefully before travelling.

Please change at Hebden Bridge when making a through-journey to or from Manchester

Customers are advised to change between bus and train at Hebden Bridge - especially those with limited mobility or that require assistance.

Hebden Bridge is an accessible station with lifts between platforms and a level exit. Additional staff will also be on hand to assist.

 

Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 October also Saturday 30 October and from approx.1200 on Sunday 31 October

Buses will run as follows:

  • Manchester Victoria and Rochdale (all stations)
  • Manchester Victoria, Rochdale and Hebden Bridge
  • Manchester Victoria, Rochdale and Burnley Manchester Road (Saturdays only - on Sundays travel via Hebden Bridge)
  • Hebden Bridge to Accrington (Saturdays)/Blackburn (Sundays).

Trains will run as follows:

  • Leeds, Hebden Bridge and Todmorden via Bradford Interchange
  • Leeds and Hebden Bridge via Dewsbury and Brighouse (Saturday only)
  • Bradford Interchange and Huddersfield via Brighouse
  • Manchester Victoria towards Chester (Saturdays only) / Wigan & Kirkby OR Southport via Atherton / Blackburn and Clitheroe via Bolton
  • Burnley Central (Sundays) / Rose Grove (Saturdays) and Blackpool North via Accrington, Blackburn and Preston (service normally runs between York and Blackpool North).

 

Monday 25 until Friday 29 October

Buses will run as follows:

  • Rochdale and Hebden Bridge
  • Rochdale and Burnley Manchester Road.

Trains will run as follows:

  • Leeds, Hebden Bridge and Todmorden via Bradford Interchange
  • Leeds and Hebden Bridge via Dewsbury and Brighouse
  • Bradford Interchange and Huddersfield via Brighouse
  • Manchester Victoria towards Chester / Wigan & Kirkby OR Southport via Atherton / Blackburn and Clitheroe via Bolton
  • York and Blackpool North via Leeds, Bradford Interchange, Burnley Manchester Road, Accrington, Blackburn and Preston.

 

Sunday 31 October until approx. 1200

Engineering work is also taking place in Leeds station until approx. 1200 

Buses will run as follows:

  • Leeds and Bradford Interchange
  • Manchester Victoria and Rochdale (all stations)
  • Manchester Victoria, Rochdale and Hebden Bridge
  • Hebden Bridge to Blackburn.

Trains will run as follows:

  • Bradford Interchange, Hebden Bridge and Todmorden
  • Bradford Interchange and Huddersfield
  • Manchester Victoria towards Wigan & Kirkby OR Southport via Atherton / Blackburn and Clitheroe via Bolton
  • Burnley Central and Blackpool North via Accrington, Blackburn and Preston (service normally runs between York and Blackpool North).

 

Rail Replacement 

Rail replacement bus stop locations can be found on both the Useful Information Posters and, where installed, on dedicated green rail replacement posters at stations.

Please note rail replacement buses are unable to carry:

  • Heavy luggage
  • Non-folding bicycles, prams or scooters
  • Animals (other than registered assistance dogs).

Please note that hot food and drinks, alcoholic drinks cannot be consumed on bus services.
