Services impacted between Bolton and Manchester due to an incident being attend to by the Police
What's happened?
Services between Salford Crescent and Deansgate are being disrupted due to emergency services dealing with an incident.
How does this affect my journey?
Train services are unable to run between Salford Crescent and Deansgate in both directions.
Services on the following routes are being disrupted and are subject to short notice cancellations and alterations.
- Headbolt Lane to Blackburn.
- Leeds to Manchester Victoria.
- Manchester Oxford Road to Southport
- Rochdale to Southport.
- Stalybridge to Southport.
Services on the following routes will terminate and start back from Preston where possible.
- Barrow-In-Furness to Manchester Airport.
- Windermere to Manchester Airport.
Services on the following route will terminate and start back from Bolton where possible.
- Blackpool North to Manchester Airport.
Services on the following routes are now able to run to both directions, but may still be delayed or cancelled.
- Chester to Leeds.
- Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Airport.
Services on the following routes are not affected by this disruption.
- Bolton to Clitheroe.
All the above routes are subject to short notice cancellations, alternations and delays.
Due to this, you are advised to CHECK BEFORE YOU TRAVEL due to major disruption and limited road transport available.

You should continue your journey using the alternative suggestions below.
You can travel on the following train operators and routes at no extra cost:
TransPennine Express services on any reasonable route
- Merseyrail between Southport and Liverpool in both directions
- Transport for Wales services on any reasonable route
- Avanti services on any reasonable route
- Metrolink services on any reasonable route on the Metrolink area
- East Midlands Railway between Manchester Stations and Liverpool Lime Street

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.
Replacement transport:
Road transport will be operated as follows -
- Manchester Victoria to Wigan Wallgate departing at 19:30 calling at Salford Central, Salford Crescent, Swinton, Moorside, Walkden, Atherton, Hag Fold, Daisy Hill, Hindley, Ince and Wigan Wallgate operated by Mario's.
- 20:00 from Manchester Victoria to Hebden Bridge calling at all stations. Two midi buses operated by Solomon Travel.
- Manchester Victoria to Wigan Wallgate departing at 19:50 calling at Salford Central, Salford Crescent, Kearsley, Farnworth, Moses Gate, Bolton, Westhoughton, Hindley, Ince and Wigan Wallgate operated by Premier.
- Manchester Piccadilly to Preston departing at 20:00 calling at Manchester Oxford Road, Deansgate, Salford Crescent, Bolton, Lostock, Horwich Parkway, Blackrod, Chorley, Buckshaw Parkway, Leyland and Preston operated by S Line.
- Preston to Manchester Piccadilly departing 21:10 calling at Leyland, Buckshaw Parkway, Chorley, Adlington, Blackrod, Horwich Parkway, Bolton, Salford Crescent, Deansgate, Manchester Oxford Road and Manchester Piccadilly operated by S Line.

Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick-up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (except for service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport.
Journey times may be extended by up to 60 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.
