Mural adds splash of colour to Patricroft station

A new mural has been added to a subway at Patricroft station, adding a splash of colour to the lives of Northern customers.

The artwork, which has been created by young volunteers as part of the National Citizens Service, was officially unveiled last week (11 November) by local councillor Lisa Stone.

The mural shows brightly coloured trains travelling near to, or partially through a tunnel and was designed to brighten the subway at the station.

Matthew Worman, Regional Stakeholder Manager for Northern, said: “It’s great to see such bright and vibrant artwork at Patricroft and we’re delighted with the efforts of the National Citizens Service in conjunction with Salford Foundation.

“I know Friends of Patricroft Station (FROPS) are just as happy with the mural and it really demonstrates the strong sense of community in the area.

“It’s great when communities come together and produce creative work for stations, as it gives them a truly unique identity.”

Cllr Stone added: “FROPS are a group of committed and passionate people who work hard all year to improve the station and local area.

“As Lead Member for Children and Young People, I've been really impressed with Salford Foundation and especially the young people working as part of the National Citizenship Programme.

“It was an honour to be asked to unveil the new artwork, which is a great example of young people working to improve communities.

“It certainly cheers up the subway!"
