Safety is our top priority. Over half (53%) of passenger journeys in the UK are already made on DCO trains and Britain’s most senior railway safety inspector says it’s a safe way of working that has been in use for over 35 years.
The Rail Safety and Standards Board (RSSB) published research that concluded DCO trains are actually safer than those with a driver and guard.
Any changes we make will be fully risk assessed, widely discussed, and approved in accordance with relevant legislation.
In addition to the driver, we will have a conductor for every train who will continue to provide customer service, including meeting customer needs on accessibility, safety, security, ticketing and information.
