Rail users reminded of amended timetables this weekend - industrial action

Rail users across the north of England are being advised to check before they travel this weekend.

Northern is calling on its customers to plan carefully for any travel on Saturday, Sunday and Monday (8, 9 and 10 July) as industrial action which will have a significant impact on services.

Revised timetables are in place for the three days with those services Northern is able to run expected to be extremely busy.

A spokesman for Northern said: “We have prioritised the busiest services at the busiest times of day, but our timetables are reduced and we expect all services to be extremely busy. We would ask our customers to plan carefully, allow extra time for travel and consider whether their journeys are necessary.

“On Saturday and Monday, the majority of services will run between 7am and 7pm, though they will start winding down from late afternoon. On Sunday, most services will run between 9am and 5pm.”

Rail replacement buses will also be used to supplement the rail services and Northern tickets will be accepted on Arriva buses, including Yorkshire Tiger, between 8-10 July.

For full details rail users should visit the Northern website – www.northernrailway.co.uk – or see National Rail Enquiries.
