Rail services return between Manchester and Sheffield following earlier flooding
Rail services are operating again between Manchester and Sheffield following flooding at Chinley earlier today.
All rail services between the two cities were suspended for several hours, but the line has now fully re-opened and trains are running - though some delays can be expected until further notice.
Northern customers are advised to allow additional time for any journeys and to check ahead before travelling.
Chris Jackson, Regional Director at Northern, said: “I'd like to thank Network Rail for their assistance in clearing flood water which has allowed us to return services to the line this afternoon.
"I'd also like to thank our customers in South Yorkshire for their patience and understanding while the line was assessed.”
Northern customers are advised to check www.nationalrail.co.uk for the latest travel information.
