Elite time trial to hit North Yorkshire streets - plan ahead plea from Northern

Wednesday sees the first men’s elite race of this year’s UCI Road Race World Championships, with the cycling heroes set to take to the streets of North Yorkshire.

The championships have reached the halfway mark and, so far, thousands of people have travelled by train to Harrogate and the surrounding area to watch the racing.

Once again, with Wednesday’s event starting at Northallerton and finishing in Harrogate, Northern is calling on all customers to plan ahead for journeys taking in any parts of the route.

The men’s elite time trial covers 54km from Northallerton to Harrogate, with the racing set to get underway at around 1pm.

This means cycling fans may be looking to travel back from the event during the evening peak and services will be busy with commuters as well as race-goers.

Northern is, therefore, asking all travellers to be patient and consider catching later trains after the event when services are likely to be less busy.

Full details of Northern’s timetables to and from Harrogate – including times of the last trains – are available via the website, whilst information about the men’s time trial and route can be found here.
