We’re proud to be Northern and that means we get to run our trains to all four corners of Yorkshire.
This year we’ve teamed up with the experts at TV’s Walks Around Britain to highlight some of the great walking that can be easily accessed from stations across our network. To celebrate Yorkshire Day on Tuesday 1 August we're giving you the opportunity to join walks Around Britain writer and presenter, Andrew White on a guided Yorkshire Day walk!
The easy circular walk will form part of Yorkshire day pilgrimage on foot and rail that takes in some of the most iconic scenery and sights along the famous Settle & Carlisle Railway in North Yorkshire.
Starting at Leeds train station, travellers will be serenaded by brass band, Winston's Pennine Jazz, as they travel and special announcements made by Northern’s on-train team will point out landmarks and historical points along the route. After disembarking at Ribblehead the Yorkshire Day walkers will set off from the station on foot, accompanied by Andrew, on a specially-created walk that takes in the majestic Ribblehead viaduct.
So whether you’re a passionate Yorkshire lad or lass, a keen walker or a railway enthusiast – or maybe all three, nowhere is more appropriate as a location to celebrate Yorkshire Day.
The guided walk will start at Ribblehead station at 12.30 returning in time to catch the 15.29 back to Leeds.
