Industrial action Transpennine Express

As a result of industrial action at Transpennine Express and planned engineering works, we expect busier services than usual across the network on Sundays in May and June.

Ticket acceptance

We have arranged ticket acceptance between Northern and TransPennine Express (TPE) until 6th June 2022.

Northern tickets will be valid on TPE services where there have been cancellations to the original Northern service.

You should travel as close to your original booked time as possible. If your train is cancelled, and you decide not to travel or are unable to complete your journey, then you can apply for a refund (which will not be subject to an admin fee).

Additional ticket acceptance for Jubilee Weekend Thursday 2nd & Friday 3rd June.

  • Customers travelling Bradford – Manchester are able to travel via Huddersfield (using TPE services HUD>MAN)
  • Customers travelling to Redcar, Middlesbrough and Thornaby are able to travel via Darlington when the TPE services terminate at Darlington
  • TPE Customers travelling between Manchester Pic to Manchester Airport and Liverpool Lime Street valid on Northern, as TPE services terminate at Man Pic.
