Rail industry comes together to help fans get home after UCI Road Race event in Harrogate

To help cycling fans travelling home from today’s UCI Road World Championship event Northern has agreed ticket acceptance with colleagues at TransPennine Express (TPE).

This means Northern customers will be able to use TPE services between York and Leeds from 3pm for the rest of Sunday.

Steve Hopkinson, Regional Director at Northern, said: “With today’s racing cut short because of the weather the rail industry is doing all it can to help fans get home this afternoon.

“I’d like to thank colleagues at TPE for agreeing to carry our customers who have been to Harrogate to witness world-class cycling in Yorkshire.”

Northern and LNER have also put on extra services from Harrogate to Leeds this afternoon to help keep rail travellers on the move.

Steve added: “With the extra services and ticket acceptance there will be plenty of travel options for race-goers, but trains and stations will still be very busy and I’d ask everyone to have a little patience with each other and rail staff.”

Full details of Northern’s timetable from Harrogate can be found here. Other operators’ timetables are available via National Rail Enquiries.
