NORTHERN TICKETS TO BE ACCEPTED ON ARRIVA BUSES DURING RMT STRIKE ACTION

28 September 2017
During RMT strike action on Tuesday 3 and Thursday 5 October, Northern customers will be able to use their rail tickets on Arriva bus services across the north of England, helping to keep people on the move across the region.

Northern will be operating a reduced service of around 1200 trains on both strike days and has confirmed that customers can use all Arriva bus services, including Yorkshire Tiger, which operate in many areas across the North East, Yorkshire, Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester. Where there are no train services available Northern has also announced that an additional 300 rail replacement buses will be running to provide further travel options.

All Northern customers are advised to check the Northern website before they travel and consider whether their journey is necessary as all services are expected to be extremely busy on both days.

Full details of Northern’s revised timetables can be found at www.northernrailway.co.uk/industrialaction. Further information on Arriva bus services is available at //www.arrivabus.co.uk/journeyplanner.

Customers who travel on 3 or 5 October and experience delays of 30 minutes or more, can claim compensation through Northern’s Delay Repay scheme. Those with season tickets that don’t include buses, trams or ferries, who decide not to travel due to strike action, can also claim compensation. All claims can be made using Northern’s Delay Repay process on Northern’s website or by collecting a form at any staffed station.
