Northern to run more than 40% of services during 28 April industrial action

Northern is planning to run more than 40 per cent of its normal rail services tomorrow, Friday 28 April, to keep the north of England on the move during a day of industrial action.

The revised timetable will see more than 1,000 services running across the network, supplemented by more than 300 rail replacement buses.

To help cycling enthusiasts travel to and from the Tour de Yorkshire, Northern has paid particular attention to the Wolds Coast and Middlesbrough to Whitby lines with extra carriages added to services.

To further assist those seeking to travel on Friday, Northern has arranged ticket acceptance on a number of other train operators across the region.

The majority of services will run between 7am and 7pm, though many routes will start to wind down from late afternoon.

All services are expected to be extremely busy and Northern is asking customers to allow extra time for journeys, plan carefully and consider whether travel is necessary.

Full details of all services and rail replacement buses, as well as supporting information, can be found on the Northern website at www.northernrailway.co.uk/industrialaction.
