Northern revs up for Ormskirk’s Motorfest

To celebrate the return of Ormskirk’s ever-popular Motorfest, Northern have partnered with the festival organisers to introduce more services on August 27.

A total of 10 additional services have been introduced throughout the day, meaning car lovers from Preston, Croston, Rufford and Burscough Junction can get revved up for all of the action.

Sharon Keith, Regional Director for Northern, said: “Ormskirk’s Motorfest is a major event in the regional calendar and we are delighted to be able to provide additional services for car lovers from Lancashire and beyond.”

“This is a great opportunity for people across our Network to explore the railway and enjoy some full throttle entertainment.”

Marion Atkinson, Chair of the West Lancashire Community Rail Partnership, said: “The CRP’ s purpose is to promote and increase passenger numbers on the line.  I am delighted and grateful that Northern has listened to our request and provided this special Sunday service which will be available to our communities.

“By working closely with Northern and all members of the partnership we hope both current and new passengers will use the additional train we have all worked so hard for and now secured for Motorfest.“

The annual event revs up at 11am on Sunday, 27 August, with Formula One cars, racing cars, racing motorbikes, classic cars and much more on show.
