Northern proud to support World AIDS Day

Northern has joined forces with local charities to raise awareness of World AIDS Day. A special ceremony will take place at Liverpool Lime Street on Friday 1 December, to mark the annual event.

Working closely with the Horizon Project, a specialist branch of charity Drugline Lancs, Northern will be inviting train customers and members of the public to Liverpool Lime Street for a special afternoon aimed at providing support for those living with, or affected by, HIV and aids.

The event will take place on the concourse at Liverpool Lime Street from 11.45am, with readings from Northern’s Managing Director, David Brown, and also from Horizon’s HIV Practitioner, Joanne Donoghue. Liverpool-based singer Tom Anderson will also be performing to commemorate the occasion.

To mark the day Northern will be wrapping one of its trains with the World Aids Day ribbon to raise awareness along the Preston to Liverpool route. Members of staff from the train operator and charity Horizon will also be raising awareness and offering advice on-board the service which will arrive at Liverpool Lime Street shortly before the ceremony begins.

Sharon Keith, Northern’s Regional Director said: “We are committed to supporting charities of all types, and have a number of extremely dedicated Diversity Champions who support great causes such as World AIDS Day. We are proud to support World Aids Day and we hope that this special event raises the awareness that the charities involved deserve.”
