New features added to Northern app

Eyewatch and Fault Reporting features now included in customer app

Northern, the UK’s largest train operator outside of London, has recently updated its mobile app, adding two new features to help customers stay safe and keep on the move.

Eyewatch is an easy and discreet way for Northern customers to report suspicious activity or minor disorder on-board trains or at stations. The information is delivered centrally to Northern and allows the team to act on any reports which can easily be avoided in the future.

If customers see a crime in progress, they can text the British Transport Police on 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40 or in an emergency, call 999.

Alongside Eyewatch is the Fault Reporting feature, which can be found in the Information section of the app. This can be used to report faults with trains and stations on the go and customers can even be updated when action has been taken.

Jason Wade, Head of Loss Prevention at Northern, commented “The safety of our customers and colleagues is very important, and this is just one of the ways Northern is innovating to prevent minor disorder so that people can feel safer on stations and services.”

The Northern app is FREE and available to download from the iTunes store and Google Play store.
