Love train celebrates better connections for Northern customers

To celebrate a much improved train service between Sheffield, Hull and Bridlington, which will connect people better than ever, Northern has organised a Love Train, especially for this route.

One train will bring would-be love birds from Hull, and another from Sheffield, for a speed-dating event at the half-way point in Doncaster. There, the singles will be given advice from former Love Island contestant Zara Holland before the fun begins.

Mark Powles, Commercial Director at Northern said: “Although this event is a bit of fun, it highlights how our refurbished trains are improving journeys between Sheffield, Hull and Bridlington. We are making it easier for our customers to connect than ever before.

Customers on the Hull train will be entertained by a Paddy McGuinness impersonator who will keep them entertained with Northern dating tips and chat-up lines, as well as serving up ‘love potion’ and handing out roses.

Mark added: “It promises to be a fun evening. If anyone does end up finding the love of their life then they’ll be able to use the service to visit each other as often as they want. And if they can’t wait until they meet up, they’ll be able to take advantage of our free on-board Wi-Fi to keep in touch on their journey. And there’s plenty of plug sockets on-board to keep those phones charged.”

The enhanced service between Sheffield and Bridlington is just one part of Northern’s drive to improve journey experience for its customers. 101 brand new trains are being rolled out, with 10 already in service. A further 240 trains are being fully refurbished as part of the biggest investment in rail in the North for a generation. Improvements are also being made at stations and in ways for customers to buy tickets for travel.

The love trains pull in to Doncaster on Friday evening (9 August) with the speed dating event taking place at the Vintage Rock Bar from 6.30pm - 10pm.
