The service usually runs each Sunday during the summer to give walkers and other leisure travellers access to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Unfortunately, due to ongoing coronavirus restrictions, the decision has been taken to suspend the service until next year.
Chris Jackson, Regional Director at Northern, said: “We know how popular the DalesRail service is, and the decision to remove it this year was not an easy one to take.
“Coronavirus has had a huge impact on so many parts of our lives and we have all had to make changes to help prevent the spread of the virus. Sadly, as we asking people to avoid using public transport where possible – particularly for leisure travel – stopping this year’s DalesRail service was inevitable.
“The railway is open however and customers who need to travel from the Ribble Valley to stations on the Settle and Carlisle Line can still make their journeys by travelling via Leeds.”
Chris added: “I’d like to thank all our customers in advance for their patience and understanding during these difficult times and I have no doubt that the DalesRail service will be back in 2021 to help people explore the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.”
