      Changes to services due to platform extension works in Cumbrian and the Lake District

      On selected weekends in September and October, and also for nine days between Saturday 08 and Sunday 16 October 2022, Network Rail are upgrading the platforms at Dalton, Kents Bank and Staveley stations to facilitate longer trains with increased capacity and the works require some line closures on our network in Cumbria.

      Buses replace trains between:

      • Barrow-in-Furness and Lancaster calling at Ulverston and Grange-over-Sands only
      • Barrow-in-Furness and Carnforth calling at all stations.

       

      Trains will continue to run between:

      • Manchester, Lancaster and Carnforth
      • Manchester, Lancaster and Windermere
      • Barrow-in-Furness, Whitehaven and Carlisle
      • Morecambe, Lancaster, Skipton and Leeds.

      Buses replace trains between:

      • Barrow-in-Furness and Ulverston
      • Lancaster and Morecambe/Heysham Port (except services to/from Leeds).

       

      Trains will continue to run between:

      • Manchester, Lancaster and Ulverston
      • Manchester, Lancaster and Windermere
      • Barrow-in-Furness, Whitehaven and Carlisle

      Rail replacement bus stop locations are listed below and can be found on dedicated green posters at all stations directly impacted by the works.

       

      Please purchase a ticket before boarding either by app or from the ticket vending machine at stations as Penalty Fares will continue to be in place during the line closures.

      • To Lancaster - at the stop adjacent to Fairhope Avenue
