• The Season Ticket Additional Compensation Scheme is available for season ticket customers on the specified routes (a route includes all stations on that route) whose journeys were significantly affected between 1 April 2018 and 30 June 2018.
  • The amount of compensation available will depend on the type of season ticket and route it is valid on
  • Proof of purchase will be required in order to determine the level of compensation due
  • Journeys must have been made, or have the ability to have been made, on a Northern service in order to qualify
  • Tickets additionally offering travel on other modes of transport, “multi-modal” tickets, will be considered providing the eligibility criteria is met
  • Tickets specifically for use on other Train Operators, as detailed in the ‘Route’ section of the ticket, are not eligible and only those that specify ‘Any Permitted’ or do not name another Train Operator will be included
  • Only one Additional Season Ticket Compensation application is allowed per customer. Multiple season ticket claims should be included in one application.
  • Customers making applications under the Northern scheme will not be eligible under the similar scheme administered by Transpennine Express. Similarly, customers claiming under the Transpennine Express scheme are not eligible to apply to the Northern scheme
  • Anonymised claim information may be shared between Northern and Transpennine Express in order to prevent multiple and/or fraudulent claims across the two schemes
  • The opening date for applications is 00.30 on Thursday 12 July 2018 and the closing date is 23.59 on Wednesday 16 September 2018.
  • Applying for the additional compensation scheme does not affect customer’s eligibility for claiming Delay Repay.
  • Claims for compensation under this scheme are available for season ticket holders only, customers with other tickets will be eligible to claim for compensation through Delay Repay if your journey was delayed by 30 minutes or more.
