When should I buy a train ticket?

If you have less than 12 weeks before you travel, booking as soon as possible is usually best, as the longer you wait, the pricier the tickets tend to get.

Every train company has their own deadlines for Advance ticket purchases, which can be checked on the
National Rail Enquiries website. Some train companies allow customers to make a seat reservation up to 10 minutes before departure, subject to availability.
