Northern customers in east Cheshire urged to plan for the latest RMT strike.

Northern customers in east Cheshire are being called on to plan carefully for the latest RMT strike.

The strike, on Wednesday 9 May, will see a significant reduction in Northern services, with the operator planning to run no less than 1,300 of its usual 2,500 daily trains.

For customers in east Cheshire this impact will be keenly felt as there will be no trains from either Sandbach and Holmes Chapel on Wednesday with a reduced service provision from Alderley Edge.

Sharon Keith, Regional Director at Northern said: “Sadly engineering work on the Arriva Trains Wales network means they will not be able to make additional stops to help our customers this time around.

“We are grateful for the help they have given in the past and call on our customers in east Cheshire to plan carefully.

Tickets for travel between Manchester and Crewe will be accepted on other operators (Virgin, Cross Country and Arriva Trains Wales) who will call at Stockport, Wilmslow and Crewe. Tickets will also be accepted on all Arriva buses across Cheshire and Greater Manchester.

Full details of the revised timetables – together with rail replacement bus schedules – and supporting information for customers can be found on the Northern website.

Northern will have people out across the network during the coming week to assist customers and answer any questions they might have.

Information will also be displayed on posters at all stations across the Northern network and on customer information screens where available.
