Dry Trains

If you're on a ‘dry train,’ our staff will ask you not to drink or hide any booze during your journey. If you’re visibly drunk or try to sneak alcohol on board, you won’t be allowed to travel and could face prosecution under railway byelaws.

If you’ve got alcohol with you before you board these services, you’ll need to dispose of it before the barriers, please. No exceptions here – you won’t be able to travel with it.

These are the trains where you can't bring alcohol:

Saturdays

• 19:44 - Whitby to Middlesbrough (March – October)
• 19:23 - Newcastle to Carlisle (all year)
• 21:25 - Newcastle to Carlisle (all year)
• 19:09 - Carlisle to Whitehaven (all year)
• 20:00 - Carlisle to Whitehaven (all year)
• 21:06 - Carlisle to Whitehaven (all year)
• 21:49 - Carlisle to Whitehaven (all year)
• 21:43 - Manchester Piccadilly to Stoke-on-Trent (November – December)

We might also make the last services on these routes dry trains on Bank Holiday Sundays - this will be made clear in journey planners or through the teams at the station..
