1. Manchester

If that wasn’t enough culture you could also head to Castlefield Roman Fort to learn about the city's history. 2. Liverpool

Liverpool is a city with a rich history and plenty of things to see and do. If you're looking for a day out that's a little bit different, then Liverpool is the perfect place for you. A definite must-see has to be The Beatles Story Museum, which is located in the Albert Dock and tells the story of how four young lads from Liverpool went on to become one of the biggest bands in history. As well as being informative, the museum is also great fun, and you can even take a ride in a replica of The Beatles' iconic yellow submarine!

After a morning of history, you can meander over to Liverpool ONE, which is a large open-air shopping and leisure complex located in the heart of the city, perfect for a chilled afternoon. With over 170 stores to enjoy you will no doubt enjoy relaxing over a meal or catching a movie at one of the complex's many restaurants and cinemas. To round off the day you could take a twilight river cruise down one of Liverpool’s two rivers, and enjoy some stunning views of the cityscape along the way. There's plenty to see and do in Liverpool, so why not pay this great city a visit? You won't be disappointed!

3. Preston

Preston is a historic town located in Lancashire, England. The town is situated on the River Ribble and is home to many interesting attractions, including the Preston Market, the Harris Museum, and the Guild Hall. If you're looking for a fun day out, Preston is the perfect place to visit! Preston Market is a covered market located in the heart of the city. The market dates back to the 13th century and is one of the oldest markets in England. Today, the market is home to over 200 stalls selling a variety of goods, including fresh produce, flowers, clothes, and jewellery. There is also a food court where you can grab a bite to eat. Afterwards, you can wander round to the Harris Museum, which houses an impressive collection of art, archaeology, local history, and natural history exhibits. The museum also has a cafe and a shop, making it a great spot to spend an afternoon. Preston is a historic town with plenty of things to see and do. 4. Blackpool

If you're looking for a day out that's full of fun, excitement, and adventure, then look no further than Blackpool! From the world-famous Blackpool Tower to the thrilling rides at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, there's something for everyone in this seaside town. A visit to the iconic Blackpool Tower is a bucket list item for many people. Standing at 518 feet tall, the tower is one of the most recognisable landmarks in the UK. Built in 1894, the tower is home to a number of attractions, including the Blackpool Tower Dungeon, the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, and the Blackpool Tower Circus. If you're feeling brave, you can even walk across the glass floor at the top of the tower!

For the more adventurous among us, Blackpool Pleasure Beach is a must-visit. One of the most popular amusement parks in Europe, Pleasure Beach is home to rides and attractions for all ages. From roller coasters and water rides to arcade games and fairground rides, there's something for everyone at Pleasure Beach. And if you get hungry while you're enjoying all the fun, there are plenty of food outlets dotted around the park. Blackpool is the perfect place for a day out that's full of fun and excitement. With so much to see and do, you'll never be bored in this seaside town. Whether you're visiting the world-famous Blackpool Tower or enjoying all the thrills of Blackpool Pleasure Beach, you're sure to have a great day out in Blackpool.

5. Lancaster

Lancaster is a beautiful historic city, which is home to a number of important landmarks and attractions, making it the perfect place to spend a day exploring. Lancaster Castle is a must-see for any history lover. The castle has been home to some of the most famous figures in British history, including Mary, Queen of Scots, who was imprisoned there for 19 years. Today, the castle is open to all and offers a variety of tours and exhibitions. Another must-see is Lancaster's canal, it’s a great place to take a stroll on a sunny day. The canal runs through the city centre and is lined with cafes, restaurants, and shops. If you're feeling active, you can even hire a boat and go for a paddle!
