Hotel Indigo® Durham occupies the Grade II-listed ‘Old Shire Hall’, which was once a university building itself and acted as its administrative headquarters; it was office to the university’s Vice-Chancellor until 2012. Taking its design cues from both the charming neighbourhood and the building itself, all 83 boutique bedrooms feature ornate details to reflect the rich ties to the city’s famous trinity of cathedral, castle and university. The hotel features three distinct room types, from academia-inspired featuring the University’s official colour, purple, through to grand bedrooms with a sumptuous feel and tapestry detailing.
Hotel Indigo® York’s design nuances echo the neighbourhood’s cultural charm and have been woven throughout the hotel to create eye-catching décor. Interiors hint at Walmgate’s chocolate heritage, including Rowntrees (the famous English confectioner started life in this neighbourhood in 1725). Centre stage on the ground floor is a red brick feature wall, influenced by the architecture of Walmgate which has been admired over the centuries by visitors to York. The hotel is perfectly situated within prime reach of some of the city’s most outstanding restaurants and bars, boutiques, artisan shops, famous tea-rooms, museums and galleries.
Hotel Indigo® Newcastle is situated in the city’s historical core of Grainger Town, just minutes away from Newcastle’s most popular attractions including shopping centres, bars, restaurants and Newcastle United Football Club, as well as the famous sites of Grainger Market and Theatre Royal; the perfect base for a Northern getaway. The 148-room hotel features individually designed rooms which mimic the local surroundings. The architectural theme runs throughout the hotel design with bold, geometric forms, classical proportions and repeating patterns that mimic the rows and rows of columns seen around the local area. Photographic imagery around the hotel captures the striking architectural features.
Hotel Indigo® Liverpool is a colourful character in a lively district, perfectly complementing the history & thriving business of the neighbourhood. Inside, the chic look pays homage to the rich industrial heritage of the hotels location – once home to the city’s cotton trade & Liverpool’s enduring music legacy. An invisible thread binds this neighbourhood together, weaving through its imperial architecture and artistic modern spirit, uniting its multicultural community, connecting it together from the Albert Dock to Princess Park, and from Liverpool Cathedral to Sandhills which is reflected in the hotel’s design.
