Check before you travel – Saturday 24 and  Sunday 25 July

Customers are advised to check before they travel this weekend (24 and 25 July). We are expecting disruption to some Northern services due to train crew being unavailable, including a number of cancellations on routes in and out of Sheffield.

Check before you travel - timetables can be viewed here

Due to the ongoing impact of the COVID pandemic, we’re making some changes to services this weekend.

We’ve not taken the decision lightly to amend the timetable, but due to a sharp rise in confirmed cases of COVID and with more people being asked to self-isolate via the Test and Trace system, we have fewer colleagues available to work this weekend.

Our teams work really hard to find cover for services, however we find it more difficult to find cover for isolating colleagues over the weekends than we do through the week.

Changes to the timetable

On Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 July, all services on the following routes will be cancelled all day.

Rail replacement buses will operate on the affected routes so check before you travel.

You can view the temporary timetables here, under the 'improvement works' header.

Saturday:

  • Sheffield to Lincoln
  • Barnsley to Sheffield/Gainsborough/Cleethorpes through services
  • Sheffield to York (via Pontefract)
  • Sheffield to Leeds via Moorthorpe

Sunday:

  • Sheffield to Lincoln
  • Sheffield to Leeds via Moorthorpe
  • Leeds to Doncaster
  • Sheffield to York (via Pontefract)

Other services may be cancelled. Please check before you travel at northernrailway.co.uk/journey-planner or at National Rail Enquiries at nationalrail.co.uk.
