We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with our self-service ticket machines which mean all have to be taken off-line. We are investigating the issue and are working hard with our partners to have the machines up and running again as soon as possible.

Update - 29 July 2021

We have started to reintroduce some ticket vending machines back into operation in a safe and controlled way. This phased return has seen a small number of ticket machines switched on and we will work as quickly as possible to bring more of the ticket machines back into customer use.

Already bought a ticket from Northern and selected to collect ticket on departure?

Head to one of our ticket offices and speak to station staff. If no ticket office is available, please speak with the next available member staff either at a station or on board. Make sure you have your proof of purchase with you.

Purchased a paper ticket from another retailer such as Trainline?

If you have purchased a ticket on the Trainline or another retailer and selected ‘collection on departure’/’collect at station’, you will be to collect at one of our ticket offices. For any Paper Season Tickets sold by The Trainline unfortunately we are unable to issue these at Northern Ticket Offices. To collect your paper season ticket you can use a ticket vending machine at another train operators station such as LNER, Transpennine Express or Avanti stations. Click here to find out which operator manages the station and what ticket collection options are available.
