Birchwood to Manchester engineering works
On Sunday 28 February and Sundays through March, the Liverpool to Manchester line through Birchwood will be closed.
Trains will run between Liverpool Lime Street and Birchwood. Rail replacement buses will run between Birchwood and Manchester Piccadilly.
Between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Oxford Road services will be diverted via Newton-le-Willows. A rail replacement bus will run between Newton-le-Willows, Warrington Central and Widnes.

Travelling between Liverpool and Manchester or Manchester Airport
Our ‘express service’ between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Airport via Warrington Central will not run.
If you are travelling between Liverpool and Manchester or Manchester Airport, please travel on our Liverpool to Manchester Airport ‘stopping service’ via Newton-le-Willows.
Rail replacement bus stop locations can be found on station information posters.
Please note rail replacement buses are unable to carry:
- Heavy luggage
- Non-folding bicycles, prams or scooters
- Animals (other than registered assistance dogs).

Travelling with us

If you choose to travel by train, please travel safe.
