Preston station closures

Buses replace trains between:

• Blackpool North, Poulton-le-Fylde and Preston, continuing to and from either Buckshaw Parkway or Blackburn
• Blackpool South, St. Annes-on-the-Sea, Lytham and Preston continuing to either Ormskirk (Saturdays) / Blackburn (Sundays)

Buses replace trains between Ormskirk and Preston, continuing to and from Blackpool South.

Saturdays

Trains run between:

• Barrow-in-Furness and Lancaster
• Windermere and Oxenholme Lake District, with some continuing to and from Lancaster

 

Buses will run between:

• Lancaster, Preston and Buckshaw Parkway

 

Sundays

Trains run between:

• Barrow-in-Furness and Lancaster
• Windermere and Oxenholme with some continuing to and from Lancaster

 

Buses will run between:

• Lancaster and Preston
• Preston to Manchester Piccadilly via Bolton

Blackpool North to Bolton then direct to Manchester Airport 

Saturdays

• Buses will run between Lancaster, Preston and Buckshaw Parkway
• Trains will run between Buckshaw Parkway, Bolton, Manchester and Manchester Airport

 

Sundays

• Buses will run between Blackpool North, Preston to Bolton then direct to Manchester Airport 

• Buses will run between Blackpool and Preston/Wigan
• Trains will run between Wigan and Liverpool.

Saturdays

• Buses will run between Blackpool North, Preston and Blackburn.

 

Trains will run between:

• Blackburn, Burnley Central, Nelson and Colne
• Blackburn, Hebden Bridge, Halifax, Bradford Interchange, Leeds and York

 

Sundays

Buses will run between:

• Blackpool North, Preston and Blackburn
• Blackpool South, St. Annes-on-the-Sea, Lytham, Preston and Blackburn

 

Trains will run between:

• Blackburn, Burnley Central, Nelson and Colne
• Blackburn, Hebden Bridge, Halifax, Bradford Interchange, Leeds and York

 

The following a summary of the intended services that will run during the Preston closures, as these operators services will also be affected by major improvement works at Carstairs, and is subject to change.

 

Avanti and TransPennine Express

Buses will run between

• Avanti - Lancaster, Preston and Wigan North Western
• TransPennine Express - Manchester Airport, Manchester Piccadilly, Preston and Lancaster

 

Trains will run between:

• Avanti and TransPennine Express - Lancaster, Oxenholme, Carlisle and Edinburgh / Glasgow Central
• Avanti - Wigan North Western and London Euston either direct or via Birmingham

 

Caledonian Sleeper

On Sundays 26 February and 05 March 2023, Caledonian Sleeper services will run via Newcastle and will not serve Preston or Carlisle.

Please purchase a ticket before boarding either by app or from the ticket vending machine at stations as Penalty Fares will continue to be in place during the line closures.
